While restorative yoga is typically a healing practice, it isn’t limited to physical recovery. A lot of people think that after they go through an intense yoga session for five days, they deserve an easy practice such as restorative yoga.

Restorative Yoga is not an easy practice and shouldn’t be taken lightly by instructors. However, you should at least know the benefits of the practice and how you can use it in your yoga classes or private sessions to teach new skills to your students.

Restorative Yoga Will Enable Conscious Relaxation

  • As a restorative practice in the yin style of yoga as opposed to yang styles that involve a lot of movement and muscular effort, restorative yoga is based on resting poses to create a condition where conscious relaxation is possible.

It releases unnecessary habitual tension from the mind and body. You can say that it is closer to meditation than movement. This practice helps one figure out how they can unwind their mind and body without going through other relaxation methods.

It Enables You To Figure Out Where Tension is Being Held in the Body

  • The effort that is involved in this practice is typically your willingness to determine where you are holding the tension and to relax your body on the ground so that more breath can come in. So once you find the tension, it can be softened with the technique.

Once you learn how to discover where tension is being held, you will have room for change so the tension will never limit you emotionally or physically. You will also have better mental wellness and comfort in the body.
